  1. Yeah I'm really wishing for some success for you, but I've never heard of buffing out a glass tank after someone took sand paper to it.
  2. At this rate there are going to be some very strong odds for each of the participants. Let's go everyone!
  3. If members are not paying for additional tickets, they still have to reply where they want the two tickets to go.
  4. That was my thought was well. Some kind of residue. It shouldn't be doing that. I would definitely throw some carbon in there.
  5. Hello members of PNWMAS! We have a new raffle this month and the theme is simple... POWER! While this recent snowstorm is unlike anything we typically see in this part of the country, it's definitely taught everybody many things. For those of us in the reefing hobby, it has taught and/or reminded us of the importance of backup power when the electricity goes out. Obviously electricity outages are not just relegated to massive snowstorms. They can, and do, happen for any number of reasons year round. With that in mind, we have put together a trio of prizes that are aimed at helping you out, when your home goes dark. First up is a PAIR of battery powered air pumps (batteries included, of course!). It can take just a few hours of no water movement before things start dying. Keeping oxygenated water moving is probably the number one thing when you have no power. These little guys will go a long way when there are no other options. Going a step further, we have a battery backup unit. While the battery powered air pumps will alleviate some symptoms, they have some inherent disadvantages compared to an actual battery backup. With this battery backup, you don't even have to be home for it to automatically kick on. Not only that, but it enables your pumps to produce more than adequate flow to maintain the inhabitants. These work for most DC powered pumps commonly used amongst the reefing community. And FINALLY, the ultimate savior in times of power outages. A generator! This baby packs more punch than Ali vs. Frazier. It'll turn your lights on faster than your alkalinity dropped that one time you forget to turn your doser on. It'll bring more heat than those NeoTherm heaters that melted in everyone's tanks. It'll bring your tank back to life faster than Harry Potter when Voldemort hit him with the Avada Kadavra curse... Ok, ok, you all get the point! Any way, here's the beast. Even if you never lose power, having this thing for camping trips or picnic parties in the park will be pretty incredible! So how do you win?!? Well, you buy raffle tickets, that's how. Ticket prices are a bit different this go around. Tickets are $2 each and you get one free ticket for every 10 you buy. So 11 tickets for $20. PNWMAS paying members all receive 2 free tickets. There will be 3 drawings, one for each prize. When you purchase tickets, please tell us which prize you want your tickets going towards. Of course you can spread your tickets across multiple prizes. The drawings will be held one week from today, 8PM on Sunday March 21st. Please send funds through paypal to: Paypal@PNWMAS.org. Be sure to include a note in the payment with your user name so I can match everything up. If you don't have PayPal, send me a PM and I can get you an invoice sent over that you can just use a card for or we can try and figure something else out. This is a great time to get yourself prepared for the next time when (not if) your power cuts out. Start buying those tickets right now!!
  6. If only there was someone willing to research what it needs, price that out, and be willing to buy it.....
  7. Yeah I have the connectors. I just stole the Eheim pump off it and using that pump as a dedicated feed pump to my new calc reactor.
  8. Yeah, that's a decent stretch. My gym is in NE, about 20 minutes from Tualatin. I could leave it there for you. Up to you 🤷🏼‍♂️
  9. Any particular reason you want magnesium chloride and not the BRS magnesium mix (which uses chloride and sulfate in correct proportions)? I can sell you this for $15. It's unopened and you can, depending on where you live, have it faster than a Bezos drone drop-off. 😁
  10. $50, OBO. Full of ARM media. Does not come with recirc pump. Located in Scappoose, but travel to Portland everyday for work.
  11. Scappoose and I travel to NE Portland everyday.
  12. Dang.... Crazy good deal! What year is the Apex and MP40s out of curiosity?
  13. Yeah congrats. That's some big media exposure. Hopefully it'll give you a solid boost!
  14. Spray hydrogen peroxide on the rocks and let them stay out of the water for a couple minutes. It'll die off over the next couple days. Obviously, when rocks have coral on them you have to be more calculated with where you spray and how long you keep it out of the water.
  15. I'm sure the experience will be simply electrifying!
  16. Tunze is the brand of one of the more popular ATOs. Brian was asking for a reminder on what kind it was and that was someone's guess..... At any rate, if it's a Tunze with a spare pump, you should buy it if the price is right.
  17. The answer to that is always drill. I probably have some extra bits of varying sizes I could give you. Another option is bringing the return over the back and using the two holes as the drains and run Herbie style. I know everyone always pitches their tent in camp Herbie or camp Bean Animal, but the reality is the third pipe for Bean is overkill and frankly unnecessary. I still have not heard an account of the primary getting clogged and then the emergency getting clogged as well, thereby making the third pipe necessary.
  18. Also make sure you really wipe down the test vial. I don't think all your fingerprints and whatnot are not good for it's accuracy. Everytime I use mine I wipe it down super aggressively and then hold it up to the light to verify there are no streaks or prints. Then I'll either hold it just by the cap or use my shirt/towel.
  19. Well...I guess I'll get this party started! Thanks for putting this together! 360 gallons. 8'X3' and not nearly enough coral to actually make it look like it isn't empty.
