  1. I like the small inverts idea. I picked up a pair of bumblebee shrimp from Jason over the weekend. Those and sexy shrimp would be pretty cool.
  2. I know arminius used to make some really nice acrylic stuff. I haven't seen him on here in a while though.
  3. Does anyone have experience with bumblebee shrimp? I've read a few accounts of them eating asterina starfish, but I'd love to hear some local input. I'm sick of losing zoas to these little starfish. But I don't want to commit to a harlequin.
  4. He's still doing great! Here he is hanging out on the monti caps. He spends most of his day sitting here.
  5. I have a few powerhead a you can borrow. That'll at least get the water moving again.
  6. Found this at Lowes today. It's just about perfect for what I need. The base is small enough to fit on the stand, and since it flares out, it still holds around 3 gallons. The only problem is that it's meant to be the top of a waterfall, so the edge is lower on the one side. Any ideas to fill that gap? I was thinking about siliconing a piece of black plastic in. Or maybe black pond foam? I'm open to any ideas if you have them. Also, I can decide whether I want to glue rubble pieces all over the inside, or just leave the plastic exposed on most of it. Thoughts?

    LED's

Just make sure you start them turned way down, then slowly ramp them up. You'll cook everything going from your old t5 bulbs to these LEDs.

One will be fine. The Arctic fixture vanz recommended is the same one you saw over my tank.
  9. I have my old 7g pest tank sitting around you can have. I don't know if the dimensions will work for you, it's similar to a standard 10g, it's yours if you want it though.
  10. The surge idea sounds cool. Probably more complicated than I want to get into though. I'm going to keep it pretty simple. The stand is probably 30" tall. Not sure on lights yet. Just in planning stages. I'm thinking about breaking the spec down and moving everything over to this if it works out. So I'd be able to use the par 38 bulb from that.
  11. So I've been thinking about a new project I want to start. Basically it will be a table top tide pool. I want to keep it shallow, 6" max, and it will be viewable only from the top. I'll let it fill in with different colored ricordeas, and add some sexy shrimp/anemone crabs. The problem I'm having is what to use. The table I have for it is just over one square foot on top, so there's not a lot of room to work with. I've thought about a glass bowl, small preformed pond... Any other ideas? I'll drill whatever I use and have a sump for the pump and heater.
  12. So there have been a lot of posts from people looking for beginner corals. I have a big green sinularia leather that I can frag for days. Let me know if you're interested in a piece and I'll start chopping.
  13. I can frag my green sinularia leather. All yours if you ever make it to vancouver.
  14. Free bump. I would l would love that chiller if I wasn't poor right now. I would love a coldwater nano.
  15. Thank Isaac! It was great to meet you. I definitely got the better end of that deal. You'll be hearing from me when I frag that meteor shower.
  16. Come on Kim! You know you want back in. All the cool kids are running nano tanks anyway. They're cake compared to what you're used to.
  17. I have a few sponges that are starting to get a little out of control. One is yellow and sort or bulbous, the other is white and just grows in one layer over the rocks. I haven't worried about them, but they are starting to crowd some of my zoas. Is there a good way to remove them? I pulled out one of the rocks to scrape of one of them, but the entire bottom of the rock was pretty much covered, so I'm sure it would just come back. Has anyone ever picked up a sponge eating nudi, then passed it on once the sponges were gone? I can't figure out what they are even feeding on. I feed everything in the tank with a skewer, so there's almost no extra food waste.
  18. I definitely lucked out with this guy. Only a few days in the tank and he's eating clam and scallops off a skewer.
  19. Just two for now. I fragged them on accident.
