  1. For a frag tank, absolutely bare just need to figure out biological filtration. The tank is not on display to be judged on aesthetics. For a display, every family member and friend you know will question your sanity for not having sand. You will be constantly defending why your tank looks ugly. I'd rather have a hot, moderate maintenance partner than a troll that is low maintenance Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  2. I like angels but they dont seem to have much personality. One of my favorite has been a desjardini sailfin. They are pretty and sprint across the tank sometimes and pulse their fins. They are like derek zoolander... Really really ridiculously good looking, silly, kinda dumb, and loveable Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  3. What miles said, borrowing a par meter is best. Like anything, you're only guessing if your not measuring. If your running LEDs, most light seem to be designed for ~50% power at 12 inches for a mixed reef. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  4. What Joe was thinking. I'd double down on carbon. Maybe change it out twice a day for a few days. Doesn't take much carbon to make a difference. I've heard purigen is good too, but haven't used it yet. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  5. What emerald said, you will know more when you get water tested. I expect your phosphates to be high. I also anticipate that your food has fine particles creating a cloud in the water that fish can't eat and is in in excess of what your corals consume. I say this because I have been there too. What helped me was to grab an auto feeder set to low, so I couldn't over feed and got a more intense red spectrum refugium light. I later dumped the refuge and currently have an ats which was an improvement. Also dose alk, cal, and mag through a cheap jebao which has worked great. Current tank under construction will have gfo, carbon, two marinepure blocks, dosing carbon, and grossly over sized skimmer. I have grown tired of algae harvesting. I would rather pour out skimmate than throw away algae. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  6. Could come with hood and stand but I'm not particular either way. Prefer 4 ft or less. Thanks! Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
