  1. ive been going to a beach on the oregon coast, mostly bringing home sand dollars and slate rock but was wondering whether it'd be ill advised to bring home any living creatures? anemones or urchins or things like that if i were to find smaller ones. i havent been able to look up any of the specific types of things ive seen while there any aquarium focused websites. so i guess im just asking whether any one ese has gotten this idea and if you have any results to share..
  2. no i havent.. and thats pretty much what i thought, that its too far gone. should i just take it out of the tank? is it harmful to fish or invertebrates?
  3. ive had it about 2 weeks.. it isnt usually positioned the way its shown in the pic. i moved it to get a better photo.. but its just been declining this way since i got it. i checked the calcium level and it was at 400. i dont know if its starving or if its diseased and honestly i wouldnt really know what to do about either one. i was told theyre generally able to take care of themselves as far as feeding..
  4. i did that today.. raised the salinity back to normal. and im mixing a calcium supplement to add because i read that may also be the trouble im having with my coral. but i think i may just be struggling in general :/ my banggai wont eat, my frogspawn looks like its shriveling up. ive done really well with my fresh water tank but the salt water is definitely more difficult, which from reading i understood it would be. i just hope i dont put my new fish through too much stress just trying to figure it out.. anyway, thank you each for your help.
  5. and yeah, it does seem to be the coral (frogspawn) thats showing the most change from the new water..
  6. i have 20 gallons.. i keep a single banggai cardinal in it. and i do use a hydrometer.. not sure whether it is calibrated. but the two readings came from the same hydrometer so theres definitely been a drop. should i look up how to calibrate one anyway, just in case? and is there anything i can do, as far as damage control i guess? pet stores are closed for today.. i dont have any marine salt to add at the moment.
  7. i just did a weekly water change and my salinity dropped from 1.023 to 1.019 or so. id read that it shouldnt have made such a dramatic difference, if that is even dramatic. im not sure. needless to say im new to salt water but would appreciate help with this..
  8. hello. im new to this forum but i live in portland, Or. and have pretty slim luck finding this type of fish. i bought one from Pets on Broadway but wasnt able to get a pair from them. id like to either get enough adults to ensure a breeding pair or just find someone who already has babies for sale. any info would be appreciated. thank you
