  1. I've got home made one that works well in Tigard if that's easier
  2. How about a Skimz SM160 with upgraded Sicce pump? Super compact, and sitting in my pile of stuff I should get rid of.
  3. Lowes has fair amount of Sch 80 plumbing parts too
  4. OMG!!! What a nightmare scenario. Thank goodness it was at least in a finished basement and not upstairs.
  5. I ran an external blueline for a couple years. Bulletproof, highly recommend.
  6. Holy cow! Big changes coming, congratulations!
  7. I've still never been to this and very much hope to make it!
  8. Just run it like a calcium reactor without the PH probe, though adding kalk and keeping it consistent sounds like way more work than it's worth. Why not go with calcium reactor and keep it simple?
  9. I have to say I'm very happy and impressed with the Red Sea ReefLED 160S lights. Buy from Cuttlefish. Simple like Kessel, which is my biggest praise. Unless you like having 5 channels to play with for no real reason, I'd highly recommend. And I've had the XR30 Radion (non pro), and 160S blows them away imo.
  10. Still trying to understand how people are using these devices with only a single water inlet when our drains have two drain pipes.
  11. Isn't it fun having a tank big enough for lots of large fish? Tank's looking great!
  12. Me too, depending on how much you need. Awesome stuff and highly recommended
  13. I just learned something new tonight while refilling my reactor. It’s always been a long trial and error process to get the thing refilled with water and fully running again, especially with a dosing pump. I tried putting a tee with valve on my effluent output and created a vacuum! Did it with my mouth, but next time it’s my Mitivac. It fully filled up both my canisters, then I just shut off valve! If any of you already know this method, why isn’t it documented by any brands or other hobbyists?
  14. If you've got space, a refugium is SOOOOO much easier and lower maintenance. I've toyed with buying and/or building an algae scrubber for years now, but that weekly (or even more often) chore of scraping that sheet clear keeps me from doing it. I have a hard enough time changing my filter sock, and that is 10X quicker and easier.
  15. Very cool! I'm going to make it a point to go see this soon.
  16. Looks like an amazing trip! Fantastic pictures.
  17. The kept mentioning “in Europe” for every milestone. Is there something elsewhere larger and more grand?
  18. Anyone have special tricks for stinky sump area? Other than cleaning my protein skimmer daily I guess.

New documentary on Netflix. Pretty incredible reef footage and story
  20. Dang, I've got two of those reflectors that Ladashark has along with two 250W+HQI selectawatt ballasts sitting under my bed waiting for a rainy day. With brand new Radium bulbs too. This set up grew SPS like crazy, but I couldn't handle the heat in my house or in the tank. PDXMonkeyboy is right on the 300W output, because they were significantly hotter (temperature) running the 250W+HQI setting on selectawatt than my old blue magnetic ballasts.
  21. I'm following along because I, too, would be interested in the same!
  22. I just learned something new today. I'd never even heard of this before.
