Yes, it is normal to have all that clear water in you cup. It took my skimmer a few days to calm down. Finally I removed the collection cup and just let it run over for a few hours, seemed to do the trick and haven't had any problems since. My skimmer is in the sump, so if you have a hang on then removing the collection cup obviously won't work.

Thanks for all the welcomes! I would love to try to make it to some of the meetings. Is there a list of times and places somewhere on the site? I also plan on becoming a site member, not sure it that needed before you go to any meetings. Thanks for the info everyone.

Hello everyone. Just came across this site today and I'm pretty excited that there is a local forum! I'm new to the hobby, I've had a 29 gallon (with a 10 gallon sump and 150w MH) up for about five months. Learning lots and trying to do tons of research before I add new stuff to the tank. Right now I just have a xenia, small zoa colony, and a few rics and a pair of clowns. Have gotten a ton of help from Tim at Westside Aquarium as well. I'm here to learn and hopefully meet some local people. Thanks!
