Looking to downsize to a nano of some sort. 55 gallon mixed reef w/stand heater powerheads etc. CPR 192 wet/dry with integrated skimmer(rated for up to 100 gallons). Bio-bale replaced with l/r Mag 12 return pump with continuous siphon overflow Custom refugium w/light, l/s, l/r, chaeto and loaded with life. Up-graded odyssea mh lighting system. 2x250w mh hqi w/lumatek ballasts 2 months on 20k cheap bulbs. 2x250 hqi SPS Blue Life bulbs with 6 months life left 4x 65w power compact Just replaced 2 pc ballasts w/a couple months on uvl actinic pc's and 2 extra brand new. White sand substrate w/ alot of really nicely colored live rock. Livestock: Fish: 1 very healthy Leopard wrasse that accepts any/all prepared foods. Including greens on the veggie clip and coralline scrapings. Maroon Clown: With a mellow disposition. Corals: Hammer coral Frogspawn coral Bubble coral Various zoanthids/palythoas/button polyps. There are a couple of fairly large colonies. Various clove/glove polyps Various mushroom corals Blastomussa Yellow polyps Pulsing xenia A couple of different candy cane corals Kenya tree Birds nest (couple of colonies) A small acro Closed Brain (some favites that I rescued) Gsp's Galaxea Inverts: Various hermits, nasarrius, turbo snails, coral banded shrimp......the cuc This is a thriving tank and can easily be upgraded to a larger tank as the equipment is rated for a much larger tank. My bubble coral is outgrowing my tank. I would like to sell it cheap. It's an x-large and very healthy. As it sits now it is about 6" tall and 8" wide in a crunched up spot. Get it into an open area and I'm sure it would expand much larger. I'm in the Bend area and will only let it go via pick up. I also have some frags and some galaxea I'd like to get out of the . Basically show up with some specimen bags and a little cash (or trade for zoas) and leave with quite a goodie bag(s). Send me a pm.

I have pruned about 98% of mine. Sorta starting over. Pruning/manual removal is the best way IMO. I just grab a stalk and tear it from the rock. Usually, the entire piece comes off without leaving any remnants.

Just thought I'd throw out the "leopord wrasse".

This is great advice. Works really well and often overlooked. Not to be used for "putting on a bandaid" though. There are many things that need to be looked into as the cause and source. Here's some good reading on "bubble algae". I currently have Ventricaria ventricosa (I think it's also known as sea pearl). I have found that the best way to control it is to manually remove it (without popping). For valonia and smaller types, a siphon tube works well to suck them out with water changes. Not sure. Haven't taken the time to look them up on zoa.id. Didn't buy them as a specific name. Just a rock with some nice zoas.

It kills inverts(small and big). Hard to get out of our systems. There are test kits available. Part of the reason caution should be taken with adding water to your tank(with new fish/corals). Alot of stores(unless you have good LFS's) will use copper for treating. There are products available, but, don't know about the results. I have been fortunate not having a copper problem.

I've got a 55 gallon reef with a cpr 194 sump with integrated skimmer. I have removed the bio-balls and replaced with LR. I do not use any chemical/mechanical filters(unless you want to count my skimmer as mech.) I have my sump sitting inside of a 20l tank flowing out through bulk-head into my fuge. I don't add supplementation. I use water changes with, IO's Reef Crystals, to replenish used up goodies. I keep my evaporation supplied with an aqualifter on an airline valve dripping once every 3 seconds to keep a little over one gallon/24 hours at bay. I use an odysea mh lighting set-up. Fish list: Small Yellow tang, six-line, maroon clown, 3 blue/green chromis, combtooth or sailfin blenny(can't remember which), green mandarin dragonet, firefish, Coral Banded Shrimp, Cleaner Shrimp, conch, regular clean-up crew criteria. Corals: Blastomussa, p. xenia, hammer, frogspawn, lots o' zoas(some palys), buttons, cloves, yellows, gsp's, kenya, shrooms, trumpets, galaxea, green birds nest, birds nest. My current parameters are: Temp. 81, sg. 1.026, mg 1400, Ca 420, kh 11.5. I don't test for the usuall nitrates, phosphates, etc... I don't have problems in that area and will only test if a problem may arise. I just joined pnwmas. Fuge And some random pics. And if anyone can help me ID this I'll trade for karma. I remember that clam. If you looked through the side of his frag tank it would be green. From the top all blue like it shows in your picture.

Try using a pod pile. A simple pile of larger rubble/crushed coral in sump or, DT where you can hide small pieces of food for pods to eat. This creates a small safe haven for them to cruise around without predation from fish. Depending on inverts you may have to try something that will work for you. Different placement of pile, smaller or larger rubble etc.. trying to keep snails/hermits from tearing into it. Just an idea.
