  1. Thanks for you thought Chewie, I did wonder about bleaching, but there are a few other corals in the thank that are looking good, and one that even looks like it would like more light. And when I first got the lights, I worked with AI and the light schedule is what they suggested and I have even turned them down to the 71% form 80%. More precisely, the white is at 55%, blue at 71% and royal Blue at 71%.
  2. I’ve been wondering for quite some time why my Purple Cap seems to grow just fine, but as the Cap grows, the new growth is purple, and the older growth fades to a dusty grayish purple. Have any of you experience this before or has anyone had this and been able to learn what it takes to rectify the problem? My parameters are generally like this: Alk: 9 Calc: 420 to 430 Mg: 1320 Specific Gravity 1.024 to 1.025 Lighting: AI Blues LED’s Light Schedule: On at 6 am, ramp to 71% by noon, and back down by 9 pm. The Cap is about 10 inches from the surface and about 20 inches from the lights. Thanks for your thoughts. Luis
  3. Ocean in a Box is doing just fine in Vancouver. Good fish and lots of corals. And they are open to the public.
  4. It is time to change the UV bulb in my 15 watt Gamma UV filter. As I look at replacement bulbs on line, they look like they are the same size for the 15 watt, and the 25 watt bulb; though I can not find the dimensions listed for either of them. Does anybody have experience with this brand and size of UV filter, and if so is there any reason I could not just replace the 15 watt bulb with a 25 watt one? My tank is a 125 gallon tank. The only reason I went with the 15 watt size is because I could not fit a longer filter unit in my sump. As it is, this one only fits with some pushing and shoving. So, if the 25 is not longer than the 15, I’m guessing that it would be a better choice. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Luis
  5. Hey Isaac, Like everyone here has already said, it’s been grate knowing you. I will defiantly miss having easy access to your vast coral knowledge. Hopefully what ever you end up doing, it will be something you like. Luis
  6. I like good guys. I have a small yellow one too; it’s just not in a place I could get a photo of. He is a different shape also. It’s so cool watching to see what new critters will grow up in our mini oceans.
  7. Good hunting Jay, I think that’s it. Thanks
  8. Thanks John, Just wanted to make sure they weren’t something to be worried about.
  9. Hey Jay, thanks anyway. RC’n is goin good. I have a 90 mm F4 Phantom on my workbench right now. Can’t wait to get er done.
  10. These have been growing in the back of my tank and usually in the shade of the rockwork. They appear to be soft as they sway in the current and come in a charcoal black and in white. Any idea as to what they are?
  11. How come it is not as clear at this size? It seems like it is not expanding large enough to become clear. When it expand to full screen, it is very clear.
  12. Tango Tang’s (laugh)I sure hope this attachment works.
  13. I live two blocks from his shop. Ocean in a Box is in a warehouse at the intersection of 78th st and St. Johns Rd in Vancouver. Looked in to him, and he is NOT open to the public. However, if you win one of his corals, and opt for local pick up, you would be able to check him out I think. I’m going to have to win the lottery before I can pay 300 for a coral, no matter how nice it looks. Hey Jay…you a Clark County Radio Control Society (CCRCS) member, or a Fern Prairie member? Luis
  14. Hey Reefer, Is that Hobby Lobby’s Gee Bee "Senior Sportster" as your avatar? You an RC flier too? She looks pretty nice. Luis
  15. I stick them in the gravel for a while. They will grab a hold of some of the gravel after awhile, then take and glue the gravel to the place you what him to be. He will eventual grow over everything and look natural.
  16. It’s too late, they’ve already bitten me, and I like it! (laugh)
  17. So, now that I know these are called purple death, what’s with the death part of the name? Anybody know the story of the name? Why not purple pearl, or something besides death? Just curious. Luis
  18. Thanks guys, interesting how every once in a while, life throws you something good. Luis
  19. I have had these purple polups in my tank for some years now. One very small one came in on a piece of live rock I bought. I have always wondered what they were. Now I see these pictures of the purple death and wonder if they are the same. What do you think? I’m trying to attach some pictures, this is my first time trying this, hope it works. Thanks Luis
