  2. We are in the process of turning our frag tank into a zoa display tank. We have been able to clear the overgrowth off of 3 racks so far, and just lay the stuff down in some crumble and sand. So it's polyp chaos, lol. Very easy to snatch polyps out of the carpet and make some frags. Here are a few shots of what's on the current menue..

  3. Use a flashlight and look at them when the lights are off. If they get long and have "sweeper tentacles" then it's hydroids for sure. Had them once and eventually they all just died off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. Looks like we had the very same issue.. my tank was around 68ish for some time and my alk dropped. Yes gsp didn't care, everything else not so much. I was trying the no heater in my 10 which caused my mushrooms to run and melt. In the mean time dealing with that,my 20 was crashing due to low alk and high nitrates. Yes over feeding I know. Good times now in there with algae and Cyano. Yeah I feel for the migraines . Don't give up it's a step back but it works out. Don't feel bad it happens.

  5. I just want to give a big shout out to Steve Manning. What a great guy to deal with. I recently bought steve's 250g envision tank. He wanted me to stopped by first when the tank was still running to make sure everything is in mint condition. It is a 72x36x25 with 4" external coast to coast over flow. Steve cleaned out the tank today and had his guys delivered the tank to my garage. Thanks again Steve. Can't wait to get this tank up and running.

  6. I just want to thank everyone for the advice and kind offers. I tested the water and apart from the alkalinity being a bit low it looks like the big change in temp did it. My nitrates are high too but that's because of the die off. I'm doing a water change to fix that now and going to run a new batch of carbon. I'll see how things look tomorrow. Right now it looks like 2 fish lost and most of my favorite corals . The cheap ones look fine! Go figure!!! I'd always thought an Apex system was too much but considering what I've lost I could have easily bought one . Anyway , I'm sure once things are stable again I'll start building it up again. Right now I just want to keep the remaining corals alive and happy!

  9. I am using HW Marine Reefer salt. Not sure if it's just my setup or what, but after about a week in my 32 gallon brute it smells like a skunks rear end after a recent encounter with a dog or 18 wheeler tire @ 55 mph[emoji37][emoji37]. I'd like to premix as well but this is preventing me from doing it now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Jeramy I still think they are hydroids. The white ones can be filamentous and resemble algae. Google white hydroids and you should find some pictures. From what I have read about them, they will eventually die off but in the meantime they can sting or irritate coral. I had a few in the sps tank but they did not take off too much as I had a lot of flow which they don't like.

  14. Thanks all! So far the only change I could find is that my heater showed an error message and the temp dropped to 68. Not sure if that could account for the big loss? I'm slowly increasing it now.

  16. I think all was fine yesterday but to be honest, I had a bad migraine so I didn't see the tank. I've lost about half my corals. I know it sounds stupid to cry about corals but I am . I'll figure out what to do tomorrow . Right now I'm just feeling a bit sorry for myself
