andy
I'm not sure it was ever "right" -- it had been receding slowly up from the base since i got it. This just reinforces my opinion that buying fresh-cut frags is too big a gamble to take. No encrusting, no sale.
fakkzz
I am falling in love with Duncan's. Sorry you lost it. Thank you for the thread though! Lots of great thoughts!!!!
Beckie
I purchased a 2 head duncan and it has stayed close for over a month. At times it looks like it might open with slight swelling ...... then close tight again. Moved it about once a week to different areas.... same result. No slim of any kind. Any other ideas. Andys looks healthy campaired to mine. I just can't give up on it seeings that it has minute changes Can't be dead so I'm still trying. The only paramiter that I wonder about is mag, it's about 1280 Beckie
CA2OR
do you still have it? Is it still alive? Do you want me to nurse it back for you? Mine are booming.
Beckie
Yes I still have it. Thanks for the offer but no. I won't learn much if it does well else where.

Lowman
Beckie, do you have an angel in yhour tank? Have you noticed it picking on your duncans?
Beckie
Nope no angels. I did get another one and it opened on day 3 and is doing great. So I don't think its water issues. I was wondering if some kind of dip would help. Beckie
CA2OR
I sometimes feed mine frozen Krill when I feed my anemone. I have also fed my Duncan's guppies which they seem to love and respond very well to. JMO and what I do.
Beckie
It is not open at all. Totally pulled in. Once in awhile it swells some but never opens. I do see the mouth open a verry little once in a while. I spot feed with rotifers, coral food, zoo plex. If it swells some then I mix in brine. CA2OR
Are those your new one's behind? Hmm I want to refer back to lighting.
Beckie
Yes, they just ate so the new ones are closed. What do you mean refer back to lighting? I have a Tek T5 8 light. Really shouldn't be a lighting issue.

CA2OR
Well I found that when mine were under T5's they looked like this moved to Mh and now they look like this
Beckie
What kind of time frame?
CA2OR
This is about 3 or so months apart. Probably less. Sorry I can't remember how long it has been since the change in tanks. to be honest Snowpunk probably remembers better
CA2OR
oh....they were under the MH's for about 1 month when I took the last pic. Looked exactly the same before.
Nate213
Do you have peppermint shrimp? I lost one Duncan to my peppermint shrimp and they almost killed another. Looked the same and happened over several weeks, until one evening I found the culprit. Now the little Duncan eater is in the QT tank. Beckie
Nate , Nope no pepperment. I have great growth in other Duncans and now spot feed very slowly and have them opening just a little. They have good flesh so I haven't sgiven up. Beckie
