andy
My single duncan polyp is ticked off. The flesh on it's 'stem' is receding up from the frag disk (looks 1/2 gone), and it's tentacles and oral disk are about 50% retracted. Most everything else in the tank is doing well. Any ideas? chorse
It sounds like a possible bacterial infection.
chorse
Is there any brown or white slime?
andy
No, just recession.
CA2OR
Maybe too much light or move for different flow. What is salinity?
chorse
Was it open full when you got it? It looks like it should recover. I would put it in a low flow, low light spot until the recession stops. I have some coral dip at the shop I can give you to try if you want. No charge.
andy
SG is 35ppt. It's in a low light, low flow area now. TMPCC okay, Isaac? I've got a bottle..
CA2OR
I would take Isaac up on that. Wouldn't hurt. Could try FW dip or Iodide dip.
CA2OR
Have you tried to feed it? I know this is dumb question for the current circumstances but it might be worth a shot. I had one head die off almost 1 week after I put them in. Immediately fed the rest of them some small pieces of krill and squid, because that is my normal first responce....feed it. Doesn't always work but it makes sense in my head. Anyway, they ate, and now they are massive. Given that was a year ago but still.
andy
It was eating a few days ago, but hasn't taken food for the past day or two. I was feeding it frozen mysis and brine shrimp. Thanks for the suggestions.
CA2OR
have you tried the dips?
CA2OR
I would offer for you to house in my tank for a while but that would be up to you. I seem to have very good luck housing Duncan's. But don't wanna be responsible if they don't make it. LMK. I will if you like. No fee....except maybe a pic or 2(whistle)
chorse
Andy, if all else fails I will get you another duncan frag. How about one with a few more heads?
andy
Thanks for the offer, but it's looking pretty dicey -- I'd hate to burden you with all that guilt (laugh)
CA2OR
Andy....just say it failed and take Isaac up on that....(whistle)

TheSaint
Well Andy, if all else fails you could let Shaneand I host it for a while in that "magical" 20 we picked up from you and set up in our office. (clap) I hope it pulls through for you as well as Shane's did in our tank. - Mike
andy
LOL, yeah I need those magical healing powers for sure. I just gave the duncan 10 minutes in TMPCC. It looks super ticked off, but that isn't surprising.

andy
The duncan looks like a wad of chewed up gum on top of a spool. It's done :-(
USCG CWO
That sucks man. Duncans are one of my favorites. Until I moved mine over to the magical 20, mine never would grow right. Shane
