jason7504
im getting 3 loose rics tomorrow and i was thinking about using a fishing line to loosely tie them to the rock until they attach but will the fishing line hurt the top of them? kriswaters
Set them in some small rubble. They should attach themselves to that...you can then glue the rubble to your choice location. I was successful with this method after one of my rics split. Kris
Michael7979
Either set them on rubble in a really low flow area and give them a week. OR Use old fishnet netting or 'bridal veil' netting and lay that over the rics and then rubberband the netting down. The veil will keep the rics in place until they attach. Beckie
I put them on a rock and then put loose screen over it for about a week. That was my one and only working attachment.
spectra
You take a berry container (ones with holes in them) or get a small container and put holes in it. Fill it with rubble and put the rics in. Then cover with a net or a lid with holes so water gets in there but they they can not get out even in a high flow areas. Give them some time and they will attach themselves and then glue the rubble down where you want them. I have also been able to get them to stick with alot of sg but they are so slimey it does not always work.
CCR
Glue is risky. Do as the rest, with rubble. Of course you can do as spectra. What I would like to see is the zoos in this cup in a high flow area. Like peas in a blender(scratch) J/K(whistle)
grassi
Just be careful... I had one that escaped when I was trying to attach him to some rubble and he landed on my duncan. Duncan ate most of him (he was small), he died, and then it took over a week for my Ducan to recover!! I've heard good success stories with "wedding veil" mesh holding one down over a rock. I made a homemade contraption with a dremmel and a vitmin dispenser and it seems to be working well
kilmca
i find a hole in a piece of live rock where i want the ric to be and suff the ric in the hole, cover with a small piece of rubble and wait a couple days. it's worked 2 times i've tried it. i know that's not great success but it's worked for me. i stuff the ric gently into the hole, the hole should not be too deep. andy
I've thought about using the material from the plastic web bags that onions come in to hold down softie frags, but I'd worried that the frag will grow 'into' the plastic web and then I'd never get it out. kriswaters
I tried using the plastic neting as well when I had xenia...it worked ok. Hindsight now tells me just to go with the whole rubble thing...it takes a bit of time but works great. If only those softies attached as quick as clams!
