jason7504
yeah i know its hard to see because i dont have any light back there and had to use a flashlight..well when i turn it down more, it doesnt' seem like its enough flow, nothings really moving
andy
Too much flow will break the GFO down to dust, which, while not toxic, is an irritant to corals. Better too little flow, imo, than too much.
impur
Got home friday and mine was all clumped together with airbubbles under it which caused all the GFO to rise to the top of the reactor and pieces were going into my sump (flame) So too little flow is a problem as well. andy
How did too little flow cause bubbles? Maybe your pump pulled some bubbles in? I've had my pump get clogged fordays at a time and never saw bubbles form. Weird.
impur
Donno, all i did was turn the flow down. Its been running since a week before i started this thread.

jason7504
after i started running my media reactor..ive seen more reddish/brown dust on my PH's and filter floss..i know the GFO is reddish/brown but is this normal?
impur
Did you rinse it first?

CA2OR
that is odd. I wonder where that is coming from. Is there something here that is being missed?
Michael7979
It could be too much flow has already started to break down the GFO and it is getting into the DT.
jason7504
i turned it down..and now i think the flow is correct.so it should stop right?
CA2OR
geez I hope so. Sorry you are going through all these issues Jason. Lights and such.
impur
Yah if you slowed the flow that should stop the granules from grinding together and producing the powder.
