180Bob
There's a little widget you can buy that goes on the cam, between the hot shoe and the legacy flash that supposedly manages between the two trigger voltages... it doesn't sounds like you need one thoguh. That's a ginormous front element on that lens. Fixed aperture, right? Large format stuff is crazy (nutty) It's not a fixed aperature. It mounts in a standard mechanical leaf shutter. I think the aperature is something like f8-f128. The front element is rather typical for large format, 67mm. Thats why my camera bag looks likes this:
CA2OR
Nice bag though....
andy
Think you might be persuaded to post up a few scans of some of your landscapes? I'd sure love to see your work.

Here are a couple with some water in them keeping with the Clubs theme:
andy
Very nice, thanks for posting them.
180Bob
Andy: Thanks. I'll have to print a couple out and mount them and bring them to a meeting. So much of the detail is lost, when displayed for the web.
andy
Yeah, there is something funky going on with the contrast in the foreground of two of the scans.
madmike
well...D200 was backordered.... so I splurged and went with the D90, lol. I think the D90 and the 18-200 VR lens with the SB-600 should get me started in the right direction. Anyone know of any good camera tutorial for dummies??? andy
How much photographic background do you have?
madmike
Very little. I took a course at the beginning of my college career....but that was over 10 years ago and alot of useless knowledge has since replaced any camera info.
andy
It'd probably make more sense to pick up a book or two then. There are a million good intro to photography books out there, maybe browse Amazon a bit? When we get together, we can revisit the basics too -- it's like riding a bike, it'll all come back to you. CA2OR
You could try tossing a frag or 2 to Andy in hopes of a short training session.(whistle)
Algae
I really like this guy's books.http://www.amazon.com/David-Buschs-Nikon-Digital-Photography/dp/1598639056/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1237295167&sr=1-7 Unfortunately, this D90 book won't be released until May and you are likely antsy (naughty). I would go to a local bookstore and peruse the shelves until you find something that fits your knowledge. Get a card while your at it http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Class-Memory-SD6-8GB/dp/B000OF6V7M/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1237295929&sr=8-
