mrgreenthumb
They have extremely nice picnic areas, both covered and uncovered. I will volunteer to help haul any and all stuff!! You can quote me on that
AquaticEngineer
Lol, before I even read the whole post I was going to suggest Silver Falls. I've been down there 3-4 times in the last couple years (clap) I love that place.

You can quote me on that [/quote'] What are their BBQ Grills like? Are there small grills near each table or a large grill for several tables? Should be bring grills or find out if Jay(Chief) still has access to that BBQ Grill Trailer? Any access to electricity?
Michael7979
As I remember, (if I'm right), there are smaller BBQs and no electricity. Is it possible that we could rent an area there? They must have larger areas for use.

Michael7979
Smith Creek Meeting Hall sounds like it could work! Only $150.00 too! Has AV hook ups too it sounds like plus chairs and tables. Sounds like we would need BBQs and food and drinks. Sounds good to me. On a side note it would be nice if the club can find a place that we could call "home" and use for all Speakers, Xmas, and BBQs. Too bad it has an occupancy limit of 86. We could easily exceed that when we have speakers. We should look into it though, and ask about larger groups. http://www.silverfallsconference.com/day_meetings.htm
CA2OR
Sounds like this will be too far to attend.

CA2OR
That may be true, would have to take day off as well. I gotta think about it. Would be a nice time to meet and do some swapping.
JManrow
We are on the right track looking for meeting places. Possibilities are The Masonic Hall that GPAS uses http://www.gpas.org/ , or something similar. Nature Interpretative Centers like this might be another good option. http://www.visitwashingtoncountyoregon.com/Play/Great%20Outdoors/10970.aspx I know of one Marine Aquarium Society, SEA BAY http://www.seabay.org/ , that uses the Baylands Interpretative Center in Palo Alto for their meetings. Finding something like this would be awesome.
dstoneburg
If it moves to Eugene/Springfield, Ive got 41 acres out in the country. About a 5-10 minute drive from fall creek/richardson park which is a beautiful place to swim and hang out. Just tossin it out there!

JManrow
2009 Silver Falls BBQ If we are to have our 2009 PNWMAS BBQ at Silver Falls in August, we will need at least a few people to show up at 8:00AM when the park opens to secure an area. We would be using the South Falls day-use area. There is a $3 per vehicle day-use charge. No reservations for day-use are needed, but we will need some of us to be there early, as I said. There are small BBQ grills, and it is possible that the trailer grill that Jay had at our 2006 BBQ at Olsen Woods can be used also. Overnight camping needs to be reserved in advance. I hear they fill up fast for the Summer, so you will need to make any reservations early if you plan to stay overnight. http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_211.php?eventid=2012&md=event
JManrow
If this is what we want, we should decide on a date. Either Saturday, August 15th or Sunday, August 16th could work. Any comments on this?
180Brandy
I just checked online and it looks like all the campsites are booked up. However there are cancellations so you would have to call the 1 800 number to check for availability.
JManrow
Brandy - I realize some people wanted to camp overnight. Do you feel they will still want to attend the BBQ if they can not camp?
180Brandy
Hummm. I do not know. I myself would rather camp because I love to go go hikes, and enjoy a small vacation.
