lancecobb1
I got the coral on the right side of the pic the other day. I think it is some type of encrusting monti? anyone know what kind it is? i will try to get a better pic when the lights come back on. Thanks Lance
Benny503
I think I have something like that you, but I dont know the name. Sorry can't help you out!
dsoz
It does not look to be a monti to me. It looks more like a chalice coral. Search for chalice coral, and compare the pictures. dsoz
snowpunk
Yea, I think dsoz may be right, looks like a chalice to me too. Can't see any mouths our polyps though so it is hard to tell. Does it have lots of little tiny feathery polyps all over it? That would be a monti.
ThePremiumAquarium
Looks like an nice piece of pink encrusting monti. If it has a tissue like surface that feels pretty slimy or slick, then it is more than likely an echino, but if it is hard with small flower like polyps(sps) then I would definately have to go for my first choice. Michael7979
From the pic I would say monti., a massive encrusting type kinda like hoffenmistri, (sp). Not your typical plating type of monti. like a cap.
CA2OR
OK...I will start by saying I don't know. With that being said, from what I have seen it resembles a chalice more than anything.(hidesbehindsofa)
downhill_biker
basically we are going to need a better pic. to me it looks like a chalice, but it may be something different. get us a better pic and we will be able to help you more. dsoz
I cant seem to work my camera very well Read the manual. Look for a function called "white balance" and set it for something that is closer to the color temperature bulbs you are running. Many cameras don't have a 14000K setting, so you may need to do a manual setting. Or, use your flash and set the WB to "flash" and it will bring out more "true color" dsoz

downhill_biker
agreed. 100% encrusting montipora. dont know which exactly, but chalice is out the window. cool piece, looks like it may be bleached a little, which means with proper care you will get a lot more color.
