jason7504
Hey, i ordered a stand(the one for solana) for my AP24 because i heard its not bad for a aquarium company's stand. but they sent me the actual solana instead and after calling them, they are sending me the stand but are letting me keep the tank as a gift how sweet is that!!!! but i already have my AP24 and already had a plan for it...should i keep the solana and use it or just go with my AP24? i know the solana is 10 gallons more but it doesn't seem as popular and part accessible as the AP24..and would a HOB fuge that i got for my AP24, fit on the solana too? and is the built in skimmer good at all and the ATO? but im leaning towards just going with my AP24.. Lowman
The pendant on that solana is hideous. But I would set it up instead of the Aqua pod. My personal preference
jason7504
well if i used the solana i would use a sunpod..but i would have to get a 250W instead of my 150W cuz its deeper but i cant afford to buy one..
Lowman
how deep is it. My friend has a 30 gallon oceanic cube with a 150 watt DE over it and it friggen rocks that system.

jason7504
My friend has some sps in it' date=' no clams.[/quote'] i see..would i have to keep my sps only towards the top if i used the 150W?
dstoneburg
I would say from the center up would be fine for sps and clams. I plan on getting a clam soon. I do use the stands for the sunpod.
jason7504
i just looked and the AP and solana are the same depth, 20"..so i guess there wouldn't be a difference in lighting needs...
dstoneburg
Two of the nicest solana around... http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1088283 http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=144306&hl=solana
SamatSLS
I've been considering a nano... I would be interested in buying your Solana if you decide on running the ap24. If you want to sell it, pm me your price! Sam

dstoneburg
If I recall correctly its 20" long. So I would guess yes.
jason7504
dstone, do you use the stock ATO or skimmer?
jason7504
yeah it is 20" long but the back compartments look wider?
dstoneburg
Its easy to turn the middle chamber into a fuge though, Since the back of the solana is clear, you could easily put a light on the back to shine through to grow cheato. Thats what I did and love it, I even have a HOB fuge+skimmer combo sitting around that I don't use because the other way is so effective. dstoneburg
I use a home-made ato, just a tom-lifter pump and a float valve, cost like $20 and super easy to make. I keep my topoff water in a 5.5g tank inside the stand, works perfectly. I used the stock skimmer for a while and it worked pretty well, just a tad bit noisy. I eventually upgraded to a tunze nano skimmer when a good deal popped up. I don't understand what you mean by the compartments look bigger. jason7504
yeah but it might be kind of a tight squeeze if i had to do any maintenance..i kinda like having an additional refuge..easier to access and adds more water volume.. dstoneburg
I don't see a reason why you couldn't put it on then.
