SULLY
The powers to be has spoken and has ruled that non-related aquarium items are a no no in the classifieds section.
R-3
So did they decide on a out of bounds type classified or just totally drop it?
fishiefish
they droped it...you can read the threads last post it states the changes.
kriswaters
This issue has not been dropped nor been decided upon. This club is based on the values of democracy. What I posted in the member section regarding "drama" is MY 2 cents on the subject. It in no way reflects an ultimate decision, as I, nor other BODs, officers or members, have not been involved in a "decision" regarding this subject. I again state that I hope we don't have to come up with "rules" regarding this nature, yet only a desired recommendation. I will, however, continue to push that this fish club remain a fish club and not an avenue to sell "off subject" items. Kris
CCR
SO WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN???
kriswaters
What it means is that I would really like this reef club to remain a "reef club" and not a site that gives way to anything and everything (and anything and everything always has a start somewhere). It also means that any decision has a process, just like a democracy. Furthermore, it means that this club should not have to impose rules to discourage certain behavior in attempts to maintain unity and cohesiveness. Will there be an "ultimate" decision? I am not sure...is that what everyone wants or needs? Do we really need to define it in "black and white" terms? By all means, if that is what the majority wants, we can certainly get to that point. I myself would prefer that we, as individuals, "self-rule" and make appropriate decisions regarding the nature of our posts and replies. We all know how popular censorship is! I only want the best for all, and that means the best for the site and the club. Politics are no fun. I can only hope that we will be what we are....a group of individuals that get together and discuss reef topics and provide experience and education to anyone that may log in! Barelycuda
I do feel the same way as Kris in that I would like to see the classifieds remain reef related however I do not believe that people are going to self-rule themselves in this situation. There appears to be 2 very different opinions regarding this subject and I believe that until a decision is made it will not be resolved and will continue to be a topic of drama. If you look at the votes in the previous thread in relation to gun sales on this site it is nearly even with no clear majority. Either/Both sides apparently have an issue with it and it needs resolution. As I see it there are only a couple of solutions. 1) The classifieds remain as is which obviously is upsetting people or this topic would not discussed at this time. 2) Non reef related item (THIS MEANS ALL) non reef related items are not allowed to be sold on this site. or 3) There is another forum set up for non reef related items to be sold as long as said items are legal and it is the members option to visit said forum. I personally feel that option 3 is best for the club whether or not if it is what I want. Dave
reef-fisher
I vote option 3 as well!
fishiefish
maybe we could take a anymous poll...ya know like picture of the month? I was under the impression that there are many opinions but that few where actually upset over it(scratch), so maybe a poll could give us more feed back? I personally would like to know. fishmanmike01
I agree, option 3 seems to be easiest way to handle this.
vanz
I vote for option 3 as well. Another fish forum I frequent also has a non-reef related classifieds. Works fine. This way it'll be cleaner as well. If we are going to be adding more forums, can we also split the classifieds to fish/coral and another to equipment/dry goods? cgrant
Option 3 gets my vote. Keeps the reef related items forum clean and still provides a place for members to trade other things.
Lowman
I think we should keep it as a hobby related only site. Like people have said before, there are other sites better suited for non hobby specific items for sale. But, most of us are not members, so it really should be up to the people whose money goes into keeping the club and site going.
MadReefer
The only reason this site might be better than posting on another site is if you want to hook someone up. Like when I sale one of my old computers, I ask my family and friends first. If they didn't want it then I might post it here and if no one here wants it, I post on craigslist or something like that. I like option 3.

I was hoping it was a reefer that bought my gun and It was. there should be a seperate section option 3. If ya don't want to see a copmuter, piano, gun, work bench, tv, sterio ..................... then don't look. NO work offers no job postings no porn. or anything related(toys) yes you see there there should be some common sence. But I think that should be in a rule. of modified option3. I say this as if you have it as ONLY THE LAW ALLOWS. That means I can sell B..Plugs(nono) so should we get the list going???
fishiefish
I'm for option 3 as well, I also always check with family and friends when I want to get rid of something......as for the gun I'm glad its gone cause if my husband had seen it he would have bought it and thats less money for my fishies. I completely agree with the rules on whats allowed to be posted in there.....I dont really care to see ccr's b...plugs.....you may wanna edit that can ccr to a cant.(laugh). kriswaters
Thank all of you for your rationale replies to this post! I personally just want the arguing over. It is true that those who hold memberships will ultimately decide, and I will post a thread in the members section to vote on this subject. I will utilize Barelycuda's suggestions and put it to vote for 72 hours. This decision will be made after that! Please stay tuned for the announcement here in the general forum, and if you are a member...get in there and vote! Kris
