markdadof2
Hey guys! Take a look at this photo and see what you think. I kind of circled where you should look - is this a 'baby' frogspawn shotting off of the mother? There are others in the picture if you look. What do you think? Thanks. markdadof2
OK, so I have like 8 of these 'babies' starting. At what point do you cut the growth off and what is the process for doing that? thanks in advance.
spectra
Just let it grow and get big like the others then you can frag it.
dsoz
I have cut them off once the flesh has receded up the stalk to the point that they are separated from the rest of the head. As long as the flesh is connected, then the polyps are sharing nutrients. Once they separate then you can cut the small one off and glue it to a rock where you want it (otherwise it is in the shade of the parent polyp). dsoz
TheGooseWhisperer
Yep its a baby. Grats...so now your name will be "markdadof10"? If the light ever gets through the parents you will see the green buttons glowing slightly (or purple in your case). I had one for a few weeks that I debated back and forth between it being a baby and a filter feeder...finally the current hit just right and lit it up...only then was it totally clear to me that it was a baby. I have 3 babies on a 2 headed parent...how many heads on your parent. Sounds like they produced a nice crop:)
markdadof2
I have 4 heads of frogspawn and out of those I have about 15 babies starting
Jay
From my experiance I have never had one of those tiny babies make it. I have grown out many large frogspawns and Hammers and Torch corals and have had many of those small ones show up. They may stay for 5 or 6 months but something usually breaks them off or they die. All the heads that split will be fine though. Mabey you will have better luck with them Jay
impur
My branching frogspawn does that as well
undrtkr_00
My hammer does that, too, but the babies are very slow growing...
