is this posible, 2 different test have concluded his calcium is very high, both where salifert test. one old thought that might have been the problem so got a new one but got the same reading 650. he dosnt dose extra calcium in the tank. water changes once a month has a small amount of corals. his dkh is normal dont remember the number off hand. he has a 55 with compact lighting. any suggestions why this might be?

I would probably do 10 gal water changes weekly for a month to fix, or you can move salinity faster if he has less sensitive creatures. Cant point any fingers on the where it came from without more info, is this a new tank? Make sure you test new water going in to, would use a basic salt not a reef salt as it is lower in calcium

I'm suspicious of either test kit or human error. Calcium at 650ppm is really high; it's hard to imagine getting to that number in a tank that isn't dosed calcium in some manner, particularly given the alkalinity levels are normal.

Is SG correct? Has he taken a water sample to his LFS and had them check it?
