Jay Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Are the tiny blue leggd clam safe? I know they are great for eating hair algae and I used cheap arm reactor medea and not enough phoslock and now I have a few small tuffts of hair algae and want to nip it before it gets out of hand. Jay My 2 tangs and Coral Beauty wont touch the hair algae...worthless suckers..just kidding I love my Blond Nasso and regal tangs.:p Quote
ThePremiumAquarium Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 They have never messed with any of my clams and I have hundreds of them in my tank. I would say go for it and get some! They really only will mess with smaller snails as they start to get larger and possibly with each other to try and battle for shells. Excellent little critters in my opinion. Garrett Quote
reefhut Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Hermits won't mess with clams, go for it! I would cut back on feeding meaty foods and use pellets for awhile. The reason is, the uneaten food rests on the rocks and rots, algae will preveil. So by cutting back on your feedings and feeding pellets will nip the algae in the butt. It will take awhile, but if you attack the problem now, it won't be a huge problem later. Quote
R-3 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I have about 40 in my 28G and they leave my crocea alone. Later Ryan Quote
shaywood Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Any idea where to pick up some small crabs cheap? Quote
defigart Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 I never had any problems with blue-leg, zebra, or carribean red hermits with my crocea. Quote
Jay Posted July 26, 2008 Author Posted July 26, 2008 I got mine at seahorse. He is going to get a big shipment of blues and reds next week. He was lw this past week when I was there. Had lots of nice corals though. Jay Quote
pledosophy Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 They are safe with my clams IME. Even with the small hitch hiker mussel ( I think it's a mussel not sure yet, to small). HTH Quote
180Brandy Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Safe in our 180 tank they seem to be more interested in my brain coral keeping it clean. (rock2) Quote
