Swampy
Can I get some help identifying this growth on one of my rocks?

This would be my vote as well but it's a bit fuzzy on my screen.
Swampy
Here is a little more zoomed in image. I only have my phone and it only goes to 10x zoom. So this is the best I can get.

I have to admit it is a pretty cool looking sponge. Glad we got a first hand ID - thanks Bret!
badxgillen
A hitchhiker Tunicate most likely, very cool.
Swampy
My wife just sent me a new picture of the sponge and it's getting big. She is being a good tank sitter while I am traveling.

A tunicate for sure, and a nice colored one at that. Nice score
Exodus
What an awesome find! Can that even be fragged?
badxgillen
Yeah you can frag em but they generally do not like heavy lighted conditions and are more of a filter feeder so sometimes they will not take to the new local chosen, a hit or miss in many standard reef tanks. I have seen them in red, blue, purple, and greys.
Swampy
I may have a second colony of them growing. Once it is a bit bigger. I may break off the chink of rock it is growing on.
Swampy
Decisions my nem is wandering around looking for a home. I think the truncate is a bad home for it.
