bigfish
Anyone know of someone or business that drills tanks?
Blue Z Reef
I know Ocean In a Box does. Most shops do. It's pretty easy to DIY as well.
Higher Thinking
There are several members that could drill tanks. I'd suppose the policy would be the same whether a business did it or a member did it. That is, he or she would not be responsible for the tank if it breaks? How big is it? If you're in my area I could give you a hand. It's rather easy. I have bits up to 1 7/8" (1.5" bulkhead, I believe).
bigfish
I'm in Beaverton, Raleigh hills area. It's a 33g long. I have one 1 1/2" hole but I'm thinking I should drill another one for an emergency drain.
Higher Thinking
Have you decided how you want your overflow setup? What are you using as a wier, screen, etc.? Internal or external? Most likely you'll want two holes, but you could still make it with with one. Although you'll need slower turnover to Madge it quieter and you'll probably want a smaller sump to prevent flooding if the drain gets clogged. bigfish
I'm thinking an h2overflow on one side and an emergency drain on the other with a simple strainer.
bigfish
I'm planning on going from an 1 1/2" drain to 1". I suppose I could get by without the h2overflow if I put a gate valve on the main drain and have an emergency drilled. I'm going to run a mag 7 as my return through 3/4" tubing. I'm wondering how I can plumb the mag 7 though as a standard fitting doesn't tighten all the way down on the pump.
