shaywood
I'm using a Brute 44 gallon trash can to mix saltwater. Any suggestions on a good powerhead or pump to stir the salt/water?
Blue Z Reef
I use an old OTP3000 pump I had left over from a skimmer (with the water wheel not pinwheel). Really stirs things up well! I use it without the outlet attached, then screw it on and pump the water into the tank. Most anything will work, larger koralias, a few maxi jets, mag drives, etc.
spectra
Anything really that moves water just get a decent sized one. I used to use a Brute also and think in was a 600 GPH or so. I use a 150 GPH pump in my small bucket I have now.
milesmiles902
One thing I have learned about using a pump as a salt mixer is that it is very harsh. Eventually the pump begins to make agitating noises because of the salt not all being in solution. I would advise an older pump or powerhead for salt mixing.
