rmhuntley
Ok guys, what is prefered way of removing/eradicating nudis. I looked at my tank tonight and found 3 on th glass, so I started looking at colonys, so far I"ve picked off 50 of the little (censored). Is there any method chemically controlling them and killing the eggs so I don't end right back where I am again? thanks in advance.
Lowman
I wonder if flatworm exit would work on them?
rmhuntley
its supposed to work on the nudis, I"m moer woried about the eggs that I may have missed. I spent 4 hours going over every polyp I had w/ tweezers and a magnifying glass last night. but I know that I missed some somewhere.
impur
Man that sucks. Do you have the ability to remove and dip corals?
rmhuntley
Did that, will do it again in a week. I'm most concerned wit the eggsacks that I can't see or are buried in mu LR somewhere
impur
What have you been dipping them in? Tropic Marine Pro Coral Cure gets excellent reviews for this. Are these the monti eaters?
rmhuntley
lugols and FWE
impur
Oh sorry i guess i could read the title of the thread lol I would do freshwater dips. And scrape the eggs when you find them. Might also pick up a yellow corris wrasse. They love nudis!
R-3
Any updates Roy? Did ya get rid of them for good yet? Dont want any of those guys chomping on the new zoos. Later Ryan
rmhuntley
Haven't seen any more. I won't know if I got them for good for about another week
rmhuntley
Ok, I found another one tonight(I think R-3 jinxed me). I need some opinions here. Should I pull EVERYTHING out of the tank and do the nudi/flatworm/general pest dip as described herehttp://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=451720 or dose w/ FWE and just keep killing adults until I see no more. I got every single egg sack that I could off the zoas, but I"m sure there are some hidden in the rock somewhere. Let the opinions fly
Guest Ahbrit
i would completely dose the tank every 2 days if it was me With a tank that small i would do a 100% WC each time using water from an established tank
impur
I would just pull the zoos and their rocks and do the dip with those and scrape the eggs. I haven't read that they lay eggs on the rocks, just on the polyps.
Twitterbait
You shouldn't even need to use a solution. just do a FW dip alone and it will kill the eggs and nudi's. give em 5 minutes and they will die. FW won't hurt the zoos either. I FW dip all my zoos before adding them to my tank. the eggs are white and laid in a spiral pattern.
rmhuntley
ok, I did the dip, and pulled off several more nudis, more egg cases than I care to consider, and even a sea spider I hope everything is cool now.
impur
Yah those look like sea spiders. That sucks. Did you find nudis too or just the spiders?
rmhuntley
oh I found Nudis as well, I only found one spider(that picture is from zoaid.com) I spent a couple of hours dipping and scrapping eggs and little beasties off my zoas.
