Doug29
What is the best way to treat ich in a reef tank? I've done research and a lot of people say to take all fish out and leave the tank farrow and treat fish in a quarantine tank for like 8 week! Is that the best easiest way all I have is a 10 gallon for a quarantine..
icepikbiker
I just soaked mysis shrimp in garlic, every other day for a couple weeks. Now I feed it every once in a while just as a treat. Edited March 3, 2015 by icepikbiker
Lexinverts
Adding a UV sterilizer really helps speed up recovery and reduces the likelihood of spreading to other fish. It kills the infective stages of the parasite when they are released into the water (from the infected fish).
JManrow
UV used correctly can be very helpful in treating many aquarium diseases, but can affect the effectiveness of medications. A UV sterilizer should be turned off when medication is administered, especially chelated copper treatments
drott
My yellow tang got ich a year ago. Immediate quarantine and treatment for about a month, kept in 10 gallon quarantine for a few weeks after no visible sign. Worked great and he's healthy pig now. Obviously don't add copper to your main tank. I usually soak food in garlic now to be proactive; haven't had another problem since.
Peng
I just did the fallow tank treatment from Jan to early March. It was definitely hard but when fish returned ich is gone. Oh I also used cupramine and treated my tangs in a 60g.
