40GallonReef
So this is in my 9 gallon nano. I am guessing it is some kind of sponge. It does not show in the picture well but it is VERY bright. It almost looks like Highlighter colored. Let me know if you have seen this before.

40GallonReef
Nice, that is what I suspected. But it is nice to have confirmation. Thank you guys. Is this non-photosynthetic? Is there photosynthetic sponge?
Mike nickerson
I'm no export but I'm pretty sure sponges are just a non photosynthetic (filter feeding) creature
Islandoftiki
Sponges are generally non-photosynthetic. I'm not sure if there are exceptions, but these aren't. They're filter feeders. I really like the yellow ones. I have red, purple and black ones, too. They usually favor shady areas.
40GallonReef
That is awesome. Can you get them anywhere or is it kind of a hitch hiker thing?

Islandoftiki
I have several that have grown from absolutely nothing, so as the tank matures, more often pop up, and there are some really neat colors. Expect to find more as time goes on. Sponges are often considered one of the signs of a healthy tank.

kev311
I just started noticing some neon lime colored ones growing in my tank Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk
Mohaynow
You can move them, just make sure they don't get out of the water. Even a quick trip through the air can kill sponges.
