Harold B
I'm looking to switch out my current bluewave ballasts (running Radiums) for Galaxy/coralvue ballasts. I know these ballasts are the BEST to run these bulbs but would like to cut electricity useage any and everywhere possible. Question, are the savings in electricity between these ballasts worth the hassle/$ ? Thanks in advance Harold B
aquaman30k
Galaxy ballasts offer a 99.9% power efficiency so I would personally upgrade. Most LFS can get these ballasts for you. Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
Harold B
Ya I see'em all the time, just wondered if anyone had any hard data on the actual savings. I run 4.
reef165
400 watts is 400 watts, you wont see any real change in the elec bill, at least not enouph to justify the cost in replacing them, you could switch to 250 watt.
kriz2fer
Yeah I don't see a big enough saving to buy new ballast and go through the whole process.
aquaman30k
I'll see if I can get some data from work and post it up here. Some data may be confidential though so no promises... Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
ocboat
You would need to put a kill-a-watt meter on both ballasts to see what they are actually drawing and compare the two. My 250w HQI ballasts actually draw 330 watts.
