racefan
I'm looking at these 2 kits for my BC29. Now I admittedly know very little about LED's (other then they look really cool on my trucks tail & turn signals) The Steve's kit has an upgrade to Luxeon ES series LEDs. They make them seem really good. I also like the fact that there is a Pressurizing cooling fan blowing air into the heatsink. Looks cool, I assume it's good. It has 5,000k neutral whites (good?) The Rapid LED kit looks like a totally different style heatsink. I haven't a clue which style is better (if one is) they use cool white LED's. http://shop.stevesleds.com/Biocube-29-Gallon-LED-retrofit-kit-Biocube-29-Gallon-retrofit-kit.htm http://www.rapidled.com/plug-and-play-biocube-29-dimmable-retrofit-kit/

Jeramy
Rapids kit will get you better coverageon your tank amd the heat sink looks better because it is bigger more surface area. I dont know what to make of the 5k whites on the steves set up. Just my 2cents though I am no expert =)
reefnjunkie
Mike if it was between those two I would go with the rapid build. I've bought all my stuff from reefledlights.com and have been real pleased, it may be worth looking at the DIY kits they have.
kriz2fer
My buddy also uses reefleds.com and loves them.

reefnjunkie
Just out of curiosity Brad. What make you like the rapid kit better? I'm just more familiar with the meanwell and cree products and also the heatsinks. For my build I had to go to reeflefdlights.com since rapid did not carry the 8.5" wide heatsinks, you may want to check them out as well
wanareef
Mike just to throw more gas onto the fire, LEDgroupbuy.com I've seen the heat sinks on Steve's and not too found of just a aluminum tube, although a lot of guys have just used aluminum plate for a less expensive heat sink alternative (also there's several guys from reef cenral that have bought from Steve and are happy)
Bicyclebill
Charles, thanks for the new vendor info. Pretty cool website. Being an HVAC engineer, I can attest to the aluminum tube with fan blowing through it as a good design for a heat sink. It's certainly not as pretty, but it is very efficient.
