Islandoftiki
Here are some photo updates... Some of you may recognize some of these frags. Many of these came from PNWMAS members. Orange/red Monti: Fuzzy Chiton (looks like a wide flat potato bug). To his right, the TECO Forbidden fruit palys that I started with four heads. Above a new candy cane coral. This is my ricordea rock that I've been working on. Speedy sixline photobomber... A little more SPS action here.... already starting to grow new branches! Had to find a shady place for this golden eye chalice... seems happy now. Some pretty nice zoas. Anna Banana guarding her pistol shrimp's cave. Islandoftiki
Hey mattv, what was the larger frag. I've totally spaced out what it is. The colors are amazing under my lighting. It really brings out reds, blues and purples.
Derbird
Very nice additions (clap) you are getting some really nice colors in the tank What is the green behind the SPS corals. Some kind of macro or a coral?
Islandoftiki
That's a halameda macro algae.
CuttleFishandCoral
Do you do anything special to keep the halimeda alive? Never had any luck with it.
Islandoftiki
I don't think so. I haven't had much luck with macros in the DT either so far. My MP10 ate my shaving brush algae. I think the main thing with halameda is to make sure your Alk/Calc stay up as it's calcerous. From what I've read, it's pretty hearty. Derbird
That's a halameda macro algae. Cool, it looks great. I wish I could keep macro in the DT. But my tangs would think it was Christmas morning if I put a big beautiful macro in DOH!
CuttleFishandCoral
I dont think tangs eat halimeda? Could be wrong.
Derbird
I dont think tangs eat halimeda? Could be wrong. Really, I'm going to have to look in to that. It would be nice to have some visible

Islandoftiki
I dont think tangs eat halimeda? Could be wrong. Yeah, halameda is too calcerous for fish to eat. It actually breaks down into aragonite when it dies.
Islandoftiki
If this halameda does well and grows, I'll have to prune it regularly to keep it from going asexual. It's supposed to be slow growing, but I'll save the prunings to share with folks.
