Jeramy
Why is that I see lots of 70w hqi lamps for sale bet have a hard time finding any fixtures for sale seems like an ideal light for a nano tank. Was this a fad of the rcent past that came and went or is it a new thing and that why its hard to find . I found a realy nice set up from jbj only to find they no longer make it Is it possible to go to lowes andbuy a cheap metal halide fixture and just swap the buld for a higher spectrum one? wegotjs
The bulb selection on a 70 is really limited.
impur
You buy a ballast and make your own fixture!
AquaticEngineer
I ran a pair of them over my 15 gallon long nano reef. They get the job done, but if I had it to do over again I would run a pair of 50w LED spot lights for these reasons: You'll use 20 watts of power less per bulb setup. It'll run WAY cooler than a halide. You will get the same look of single point light. You wont have to worry about replacing bulbs as often or trying to find a decent spectrum bulb. They cost almost the exact same to build a retro fit kit.
