dvstaz
I'm new to saltwater, have a new established 15.5 gallon tank, and freely admit I've been bitten. I have done freshwater for almost 12 years now. I have a 75 gallon glass bow front tank on a nice stand with lots of room underneath. I'm pretty sure that it can't be drilled. I'm wondering if it is possible to set this tank up as a saltwater tank or if I'm better off waiting, saving, and starting with a new tank. Any suggestions, opinions, thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your insight.
Nate213
As long as you clean it well, there shouldn't be any issues. I have used several freshwater tanks for saltwater. The only concern would be if you used copper for any treatments.
dsoz
Welcome to the forum. Good choice on getting a little salt in your veins. Why can't it be drilled? If it is AGA, then there should be a little tag on the bottom that you can see when all the gravel is out of the bottom. Usually AGA only has tempered bottoms. The back is usually just regular plate glass. +1 on the copper treatment. Also, if you used a formalin treatment for anything (I think some freshwater ick medications use formalin) I wouldn't use it. I have a 75g AGA on a stand made by Seahorse (local store down in NE Portland). It is just sitting in my basement empty. If you want, we can talk about a price. It has not been drilled, so you could customize it to your liking. There is a canopy with some PC lights that are not all functional. They would probably be best to not use. Send me a PM if interested. I was planning on posting this soon. dsoz
