NoobtoSalt
Alright so I have not been running a heater in my new setup and my house typically stays around 70-72 at all times. My tank temp is around 78-80 without a heater. My concern is that when the summer comes it's going to end up overheating. Am I really going to need a chiller? What else do you guys all do to keep the temp down. I thought that my tank without a heater would be running closer to the mid 70's so I wasn't thinking of this issue. My lighting consists of 12 T5's that run about 8-10 hrs a day. Other than that I don't really have anything that would keep the heat going in the tank. Any suggestions would be great. I know I could just run some bottles full of frozen water in the sump during those months but was hoping there would be another idea as well. Thanks! siskiou
How hot does your house get during the summer? Ours gets to around 74 degrees, and my tanks stay cool with fans (the 6" clip on variety). I have the fans and heaters on a controller, and temp stays between 78.5 and 79.5.

About the same temp as right now. I have an oversized air conditioner for the house so it doesn't get hotter than 75 even on the 100 degree plus days. I think I'm going to try some fans down below to help out with some air flow. but again I'm not running a heater and the temp is that high. C0lin
I would think that if your house can stay the same temperature, then the seasonal temps outside won't affect your aquarium at all.
Saltfinsax
How well is the sump area vented? I know when I open mine in the summer it gets kinda warm down there. Maybe set some little fans up at each end. One in and one out, wouldn't take much.

Would it matter if they were on the ends or on the back of the stand? Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
