nhoffee
Hey, I have a question. I am wanting to order a Dosing pump and I dont know if I want to order the Bubble Magus Dosing Pump or the BRS 2 Part Doser(1.1 ml). I was woundering if anyone has any feed back on those 2 items. An FYI I do have a Apex Controller Lite. I am also dumb in the ways of dosing with the Two kits that BRS offers and someone simplify it for me. I see one that has Lowers PH and another that Raises PH. What one should I get. Here is link for the Two Part http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/calcium-alkalinity-magnesium/two-part-calcium-and-alkalinity-solution/two-part-calcium-and-alkalinity-total-package-large-1.html
Bigjohnwoody
I had the BRS dosing pumps and they worked extremely well and are a great product. Don't know anything about the other.
Bicyclebill
I've been running the BRS dosers about a year now and zero issues. The bubble magus has it's own built in controller, but I think the BRS is a more robust product made by a company that does this up into the high end. Regarding which alkalinity product to use, you'll need to measure your PH. If it's high (upwards of 8.4), you'll need the one that lowers it. If not, the standard one does the trick. If you don't already have test kits, you're going to need PH, Alk, and Ca as a minimum if you're going to start dosing.
nhoffee
Yea I already have the test kits needed. My Ph is at 8.3 and stable. I think that is my bigest question is should I get the one that lowers or the one the raises it? I've been running the BRS dosers about a year now and zero issues. impur
I run the BM doser and its so great, easily one of the top 3 things i have ever purchased for my tank. So easy to program, the replacement pumps are only $20, and its expandable. 3 BRS dosing pumps will run you around $240+shipping, i got my BM doser for $253 shipped. IMO just the programming aspect makes the BM doser better than the BRS, so quick and easy and LOTS of dosing options per pump that you just can't do with the stand alone BRS dosers. The BM doser also has 1 plug, so if you are running low on open plugs with your controller, well you might have to add in the cost of expanding that also. But of course this is all dependent on your use for them.
