ryan in salem
Hi, Because of the popularity of my 29g reef tank in my class I want to set up a predator tank. I have a 50g truvu tank, pump, and lights. I'm wanting to see if anyone could donate the following: -heater -hob skimmer (tank is sitting on a large metal cabinet) or a standard skimmer/sump (i just need to make a stand) -sand -rock -salt -lion fish -trigger -any cool non-reef safe inverts/fish/ect Thanks, Ryan in salem 510-1210
Emerald525
Ryan, Michael 7979 was able to get donations from Marineland. I have a brand new Marineland skimmer rated for a 100 gallon tank. I also have a Marineland submersible pump at 475 gph. I also have a tunze power head donated by Spectra a while back. I will get them to Mr. S at some point and he can get them to you. ryan in salem
I'm still in need of salt, sand, and rock. If you have some you would like to donate I would be ecstatic.
Mr S
Kim forgot the tunze. We will get it to you later. The skimmer and pump will be at Garretts today if you want to pick them up. He is open til 7.
ryan in salem
Got the skimmer and pump. Thanks a ton. I'm going to see if the skimmer will fit in the rear overflow area of the tank. Otherwise I'll need to set up a separate refugium.
ryan in salem
Here is a pic of the predator tank. It's a 50g and still needs a heater, sand, salt, rock, and eventually a few predator fish. Our only inmate is "blubbles" the rubber fish
impur
It looks like its hanging over the edges of the stand?
ryan in salem
The stand and water are temporary. I was conducting a quick test for water leaks. No leaks so I'm ready to start the project. Nice catch

ryan in salem
The predator tank is going great. Last month I added a lion fish and we named him Mufasa (from the Lion King movie.) I hand feed it silversides and it's getting fat. I also have a lime green wrasse in the tank. They are getting along great except he tries to grab the silverside out of Mufasa's mouth. Here are a couple of pics.

Hewey McLovit
Wasn't Mufasa the name of the lionfish in Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo? I think mufasa is the best name for that fish...very cool!

ryan in salem
Does anyone in the Salem area have rock they can donate for the predator tank. I only have a couple small rocks that I put in from my "rock rubble" from my home sump. pm or call me at 510-1210.
Mr S
If you come by the store when I get back in 2 weeks I can talk to you about making your own rocks. Kids would have a great time making them.
