sontdo
I can't decide if I should have sand or bare-bottom for 280g tank? What's the best sand on the market? Thanks for your comment. Sonny
Trautman
Sand is the way to go IMO. I hear the premo seafloor special is good. Bare bottom is boring if you ask me. And you dont get the biological filtration
MVPaquatics
Sad marshall...my tank is boring? Haha just kidding. I have ALWAYS used sand. But my latest tank i didnt. I am actually liking it. There are pros and cons to each. Which do you find for visually appealing? You can always do a remote sand bed
Danik
I use sand all the time, just do a very shallow sand bed 1" to 1 1/2".
Nate213
X2 on the seaflor special grade- size is perfect. I don't like the look of most BB tanks, but they do seem to stay cleaner. I have seen one tank that they epoxied down just a small layer of sand and it looked fantastic.
ThePremiumAquarium
Seaflor special grade. 1.5"-2" bed. I use this combo on many tanks and it always turns out great. There are a few exceptions in which I have some crazy flow that I go bare bottom but that is some really crazy flow. If I go bare bottom there is always the implementation of extra rock and/or a remote deep sand bed to allow for buffering.
