Reefsickness
Is there a Rule to how big your Sump needs to be compaired to how big your tank is? Since when I had a tank 14 yeras ago that was never a subject, Bioballs were just coming out and they went into your over the back filter. Mohaynow
I've always thought the bigger the better with sumps. more tank volume = more stable parameters.
MVPaquatics
Yeah. Its all about volume and hiding unsightly equipment. I have seen a 3 gallon office pico tank hooked into a 40 gallon rubbermaid sump. I have also seen 125 sumps on 40.breeders. whatever you have laying around haha
reef165
I like to put my tanks together with the sump being arround 1/3rd to 1/2 the tank volume.
Rugbyfish
Exactly my thoughts: the bigger the better.
Trautman
big is good, but don't fret with being excessive... a larger sump means more security, (your params, as well as back siphoning) for a 75 cube, i would recommend a 40B...
Reefsickness
Can you count the size of a refugium as a sump also since I was planing on building a sump/refugium together since space is tight.
Trautman
you could throw in a fuge to a 40b, get some egg crate, and make a little chamber, then put some chaeto in and get a clamp on light... then you are set
