Mandinga
Am using a pcx-20 external pump, and it is leaking from bottom of volute. Any ideas how to fix? I think it's probably the little rubber seal, anyone know where to get one? I had to take apart my pump because of the Kent salt I switched to...that stuff is incredibly hard on pumps and plumbing. Check out these pics, 5 months worth of Kent salt residue buildup. Concrete like texture. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Smann
Wow thats bad, I had taken my pcx 30 apart after running for years and it was just a little dirty, nothing like that, Ouch!. you should be able to order the O ring from PC they are local or call and stop in and get one, Woodburn I think
Mandinga
I called PC and they are in the middle of moving their offices to WA...any ideas where I can find one elsewhere...locally? I know for certain that this residue buildup is from the KENT salt...it is all over my salt mixing bucket... switching salt asap.
impur
Eww thats nasty glad i didn't switch to Kent when everyone else was. They have sheets of rubber seal material at the hardware store, you cut them to fit your needs. Might be worth a shot?
jonas
That's what's in my salt drum. Gonna have to switch also.
Smann
Try True Value or George Morland, the TV in Tualatin should have a selection of O rings. I'm sure you could call and tell them the approx size/diameter and see if they have one close
MVPaquatics
muriatic acid should take care of the concrete mess...just remove all o-ring first
ReefSafari
I noticed that with the new Kent Salt as well....I wonder if its because of the "Extra" Calcium and Magnesium that they say are in it...Interesting...I don't want to switch, I have tried 3 different kinds over the last few years...I don't want to have to switch again...bummer
pledosophy
I lubricate my O rings with a product called Plumbers Grease. It costs a couple bucks at Home Depot, assuming someone can help you find it. I find it helps my seals last longer, keeps the O rings from drying out, and is a bit more forgiving which results the prevention of leaks. I would recommend it especially for external pumps, and bulkheads. I took my closed loop apart a couple years ago for a move and was pleasantly surprised to find the o ring still gooy with the grease. JME
Mandinga
TVH had o rings, but nothing perfect size...I was able to stretch one and make it fit. 2", but needed 2 3/8". Think this will be a big deal? Feels snug, about to hook it up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
