oxx155
So, some of you know, but most don't, a week after the meeting at my place my Kalk decided to dump its entire contents and in 5 hours it ran the tank PH above 10 while I was out for the evening. I came home to everything dead or dieing (those that I could save went to Garrett). Anyway, the reason for this post is to not ask for any compassion, accidents happen and I learn and grow from it. I have decided to completely redesign my system to improve its overall function and look. Garrett is designing my an entire new sump system that will incorporate an 8ft. tank and 6ft. tank into one large and over-designed sump system. Also, I am considering purchasing a 120"x42"x24" Miracles Glass Tank with Starphire Front and with external overflow as my new tank. My main question right now is does anyone know a moving company that could pick up the tank in Eugene for me, deliver and put it in my place at my home in Springfield? For those that may ask, yes I am going to be soon selling all my current tanks - 450 Gallon, 180 Gallon, 180 Gallon, and a 90 Gallon. But, before I sell I have to be able to get a new tank to me and in place, if I can't make that happen then I can't upgrade. And whomever moves it has to be insured, I am not paying for a broken tank, LOL. Thanks Douglas

Emerald525
Sounds like an awesome tank and the silver lining to an otherwise discouraging disaster. I'm glad I got to enjoy it before the Kalk dump disaster of 2011. Check with Mohaynow. He lives in Salem but I know he works in the moving business. oxx155
how big is that exactly? and WOW I am debating whether the tank we'll be 525 gallons or 600 gallons. Or if I went taller it could be 650 gallons or 750 gallons. The sump will add an additional 500 gallons or so.

I guess we all dream about things we would like to change if we had the chance. Somewhat unfortunately I have the opportunity to make those changes and make things even better. I will PM Mohaynow, hopefully he'll have some info for me.
jackaninny
James at Envision might have a line on companies that move large tanks since he makes large tanks.

LOL Sorry for the loss, im glad I got a chance to see it. Cant wait for a new build thread. Could you elaborate on the kalk problem? LOL Sorry for the loss, im glad I got a chance to see it. Cant wait for a new build thread. Could you elaborate on the kalk problem? I dose kalk, if there is something I can learn and avoid the same thing. Thanks Gabe To be honest I am not sure exactly how it happened. It runs on my top off system that has never had a problem before. I can only think that when I hooked it up that night after putting more kalk powder in that I put the output connection to the tube that goes all the way to the bottom instead of drawing water from the top, and for some reason the top off ran for an extended period of time that night, basically the perfect storm leading to a ton of kalk being dumped in the tank in a very short period of time. The stupidest thing is that I have the connections for my Apex to monitor the PH and turn things on/off as needed, I just hadn't gotten around to hooking up the kalk system to the Apex. It definitely will when I redo this system, in fact everything I can hook up to the Apex will be and will all be controlled/monitored 24/7, including text messages sent to me if anything goes out of wack. All power outlets will also be connected to the Apex so everything can be turned off/on from anywhere in the world. I have a lot of work ahead of me, LOL, but it will all be worth it. oxx155
I am now pretty sure I am getting a tank within the 625-750 gallon range with Starphire front panel and external overflows. LOL, I just said to myself "What am I getting myself into?", but at the same time I am excited to rebuild and see what craziness I can come up with.
