NoobtoSalt
Looking good. Wish I could have helped more with the lip on the tank but can't wait to see the rest of the build.
Algae
Looking good. Wish I could have helped more with the lip on the tank but can't wait to see the rest of the build. Trent came through with dimension! Thanks! The little Bosch Colt palm router on top of the stand is very cool. I have a large router but this little gem is perfect for edge work. Next: Skinning the 60 stand and 60 canopy!

Algae
60 and 120 stands plus 60 canopy skinned and puttied. Next step is to sand, primer, and paint, cut and fit trim. No doors because I am plumbing to garage. I can always go back and route out the door frame and do a rail and stile door, but I think I may like the clean look of not having doors. I actually have too many tools in my garage, Alex. With a router table, tablesaw with outfeed table, and a big radial arm saw I have run out of space to do big projects. Maybe if I threw away my wife's collection of VHS tapes, which she must think is going up in value, I'd have more space!

TheGooseWhisperer
So "skinning" a stand pretty much refers to the process of covering a 2x4 box with 1/4" marine grade plywood? I've just started thinking about building a new stand for my 29g. Everything else in the living room is a cherry finish so a glossy black tank stand sitcks out like a sore thumb. Yes, "skinning" is using the plywood to cover the frame on a non-euro style cabinet. I don't use marine grade plywood because if the wood is sealed well enough it is just overkill. Here is what the little Bosch can do for edge treatment. Granted, if it were a larger profile bit or 1/2" shank I would go to a larger router/table but for simply easing an edge or minor rounding over this is the cats PJ's! Time to finish routing and using a primer.
grassi
Why did you route the 2x4?
