Ahhh gotcha.

Well we need a bit more info if we are to help you out here.

Are you running any chemical filtration on the tank ie GFO or carbon?

Skimmer running as usual?

How often do you do water changes?

How old are your bulbs?

What are your params?

I was having the same issue for the last 6-months or so. TDS read 0. Changed filters and TDS still read zero. Phosphates always read zero, but having weird algae outbreaks. I kept my tank essentially empty (only had two clowns and a flame hawk in my 75) thinking I had excess nutrients. Purchased a BRS dual reactor and not much improvement. I finally switched back to my old salt brand and the algae is rapidly disappearing.

What's your magnesium test at? Hair algae(bryopsis) will melt when magnesium is a little above normal, and will thrive when mag is low(under 1200).

Of course there are other varying factors like nitrate and phosphate that cause it.

Hair algae and bryopsis are 2 different types of algae.
