Bigjohnwoody
Never been much of a chalice fan yet but that thing is beautiful. This may make me look into chalices more.

stylaster
chalices seem to be a lot hardier then sps, they went through my sps tank crash and none of them had any ill effects. I know of a couple of tanks around 20 gallons that have chalices in them they do fine, but they do put out sweeper tentacles so you gotta keep that in mind

stylaster
some do some don't it's trial and error, usually if the surface texture looks the same they get along ok, I have two chalice colonies that have grown into each other.... here's pic
dee77
I was thinking maybe a Nano frag tank and just get one eye frags and put them to large frag disk and let them grow out
stylaster
ya that's what a lot of people do it's a good way to start them
dee77
Something like these also could I use the stock lighting or would they grow faster if I put 14k mh? And have the frag disks on the bottom with no live rock in the tank http://reefbuilders.com/2009/04/30/encrusting-corals-frag-disks/
jgf86123
They'd do better under higher lighting, I'd think, although I'm no chalice expert, and am almost to the point, once I get my own frag tank set up, of trying them again lol. jgf86123
Do any of you chalice experts think chalices could be kept in this? http://www.cadlights.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=46&products_id=
stylaster
actually almost all chalices i have do well under very low light... as for the cad light system, if there is a way to dim the lights and slowly turn them up i think it would work fine
