Fireworms

Are you sure they are fireworms? Many people mistake bristleworms for them and many of the descriptions found on the Internet are either deceptive or outright incorrect. For instance I've seen descriptions claiming that it's a fireworm if it nails you with bristles or if it has any red on it which I know firsthand is incorrect. (Tip: If you get nailed by a bristleworm use duct tape to get the bristles out)

He brought two over in a cup to my house, they have the bristles out the sides in sections just like the fireworms i've seen online and they were huge and the bristles were out all the time. They also kind of crawl around like caterpillars and not worm like movements.
