mister crabs Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 just wondering how many hours a week you guys spend doing maintenance on your tanks? maintenence including WC's, cleaning, aquascaping, etc. and please include your tank size. I am looking at a 180g in wall versus the 40g i have in the garage as far as how much maintenance time i need to dedicate to it before i decide to just get the big tank. thanks for your help guys! impur Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I have lots of work to do as far as aquascaping, making rock, etc, but typically i spend around 5 hours a week on my 75gal tank doing misc chores. Quote
oldbrownies Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I do very little to my tanks, I would say between the two 60's I do about an hour of basic stuff, maybe 2 hours when I go and do some Vacuuming and water changes Quote
Randy-S Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 330 gal tank one hour a week. Once a month two hours when i do a water change and hit coraline. Quote

mister crabs Posted January 11, 2007 Author Posted January 11, 2007 only an hour a week randy? nice.....i was expecting a headache when it comes to maintenance. Quote
ringwurm Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I do about an hour a day on weekdays and a couple hours a day on the weekends. This covers three tanks and about 580 gallons. Quote
mister crabs Posted January 12, 2007 Author Posted January 12, 2007 so you have about 9 hours a week? ouch....that kind of time scares me.....makes me think i will stick with a small tank after all. Quote
mister crabs Posted January 12, 2007 Author Posted January 12, 2007 i really just want a little piece of the ocean with some softies, an anemone, and maybe a clam. and a couple of active fish. Quote
ringwurm Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I spend a good 20 minutes making a batch of food with my daughter each night. Its one of our nightly rituals and we both enjoy it. Working on the tanks is relaxing for me and it gets my mind off of work and other things. Quote
Michael7979 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I guess I spend about a half hour a day on the average. Doing all the norms., (scraping, checking top-off, mixing kalk, feeding), that kinda stuff. Then I spend alittle more time when I do WC's of course. Quote
