Rick
What kinda return pump am I looking for? It also is drilled and plumbed for 2 closed loops....I got pics if that would help. Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk You need to match your return pump up to the drain. I.E. The drain will be the limiting factor in how much return you can have. It's doubtful that the return will be adequate though to forgo any additional flow even with a wavemaker. I think I would do a dual return with a SQWD and run around 1800 GPH if the drains can handle it. I would still add another 2400 GPH or so of flow using a couple of powerheads (or perhaps even more) although it probably isn't necessary with a FO tank. jayR
I too wanted to go with an aggressive tank setup this time around, but after seeing nice setups with colorful corals I'm most likely going softies w/ lots of fish. I would opt away from a closed loop system as well. There are so many options to get internal flow going and you can add/remove/move at anytime. Just my 2 cents. moovinfast
I have a 240 cube and I just run 2 dart pumps.1 for return and 1 closed loop through 8 alternating returns (4 & 4) and I.think the flow is fine. CA2OR
ah....thank you for the link but I am looking to spend less than $700 for the tank. I am interested in learning what else I could do for flow....but again....wouldn't the wave be my flow?
CA2OR
I found this 180 new glass for under $700 shipped. Is there something or reason I should avoid this one? https://www.ccshopsecure.com/CCart/Pages/ViewCart.aspx?WsId=2414&Ohp=1441
CA2OR
Who can build a stand and canopy for this tank?
Gill
you know Matt has a 100 gallon built by envision with matching stand and canopy and built in center over flow. I have not seen it in person but it looks really nice and Matt is a great guy to do business with. I think he's only asking 400$ for it. R-3
So are you looking for a standard 6x2x2 180 Eric? I sure bet you could find one locally for a lot cheaper than $700. There are also several stand makers around. Most LFS's know 2 or 3 and theres even some on the forums.

I like the idea of 72" better than 96 but cost efficiency is important too.
ReeFit
you can also just do a rough frame stand and skin it with sheetrock or paneling.

CA2OR
I don't care.....footprint is mostly important. I mean I don't want one that is going to fall apart, and do want to see clearly into the tank....does that help? I still would have to figure out drilling and plumbing after locating tank. Like this idea....but I am not a carpenter by any means.DOH!....nor plumber....nor electrician. I think I might be getting in over my head here without help. Rick
Is 125g too small? (72x18) I would make you a great deal on mine (with or without the stand) as I've decided to switch to a 4 foot tank.
CA2OR
I am thinking probably so. From my research the fish I am looking to have require no less than 180....which is why I am shooting for

Don't Seahorse and SWF both have contacts that can make custom cabinets. I think Davy Jones did also. For that matter with all the building trades hurting you could probably take a set of plans to just about any cabinet shop in the area and get a good deal. CA2OR
yes, but I am finding that having a tank built exceeds my budget. Otherwise I would definately have Wanareef build it for me....which I still might do.
CA2OR
Well....got the quote for the fish....now I just need the dang tank. Here's a sample of the list. Baby Queen Trigger....$60 Volitan Lionfish....$30 Bamboo Shark.....$30 Clown Trigger.....$60 BlueLine Trigger....$70 Green Moray Eel....$
jackaninny
BTW - Today Ecotech announced the MP60 units will start shipping next week. 7,500 gph - for tanks 120 to 1000 gallons.
CA2OR
Nice....problem for me is vortech's are freaking expensive. And although they look and perform great I have seen similar results for far cheaper.
Rick
Eric, I have a line on a 175 gallon acrylic tank (48L x 32D x 26H) advertised for $500 (But I know he will take $450). He said he would throw in the stand too although it doesn't look real pretty (Needs a new skin on the outside but it wouldn't need to be done immediately). Call me if you want the details.
