jackaninny
I've noticed this small white growth in my tank over the last month or so and it seems to be spreading around. Up by my HydroFlo return it's created a path of growth - almost single file and then up around the return. Also located on base rock and a few plugs elsewhere in the tank. Looks like a single white stalk with a flower, feather duster type head. It seems to bother some of the zoas into not opening as much/wide as they might normally do. Any Ideas? ReeFit
i have that in my frag tank that probably came in on some of the live rock. i would wager that it might be a type of sponge.
grassi
They look like some sort of feather duster from what I can tell from the pic

jackaninny
The top part looks a lot like a feather duster but do they spread in a trail patten like the shot of the back of my tank need the HydroFlo return?

stylaster
i agree hydroids for sure, they sting the heck out of corals. Best way to get rid of them... take the rock out they are on, scrub them off with a toothbrush and if possible soak infected area in freshwater for 30 mins
impur
Hydroids! Good luck, those ones are nearly impossible to get rid of.
jackaninny
So I think I've narrowed this stuff down a little further - Myronemia hydroids. Looks like mechanical removal slows it down but is not a reliable way to eliminate it. Interesting some people have reported that Dolabella auricularia will eat this stuff.
