Raamiah
I got this guy as a hitchhiker off a candy cane and some other coral I bought from a guy in San Diego where I live. Anyone have any idea what it is? He has spread all over my tank. The only other thing that spread that fast was my aiptasia...lol. Any help would be appreciated! rgrcrain
I think those are Mojano's, pretty much aiptasias only prettier
impur
Yah i agree. You should yank that rock out before they spread everywhere.
Raamiah
great. Does aiptasia X work on them? I just bought some to get rid of a few aiptasia. If so I'll use that stuff. Also would they be the reason my apha omega's have been disappearing? I thought it was the shrooms but maybe not.
impur
Not really. A strong kalk paste does the trick, but takes several applications. And with that many in your tank you'd have to do just small sections at a time to avoid parameter problems. Yes i would say the mojanos are stinging your zoas and causing them to melt. Raamiah
I just searched the net for answers on how to take care of them and I read that you can use tweezers to "pop" them off since they have such sturdy feet. Has anyone heard of this or tried it? I think I am going to go pick up a pair of tweezers after work and try it out as a non-chemical solution and one that would yield "instant" results. moovinfast
I havent tried tweezers. I usually inject them with lemon juice. Works most of the time. Sometimes it takes 2 tries.
jgf86123
Or youc an take out the rock they're clustered on and boil it, that works fast as well.
impur
If you don't get every small piece of flesh it will just regrow. Peppermint shrimp won't eat mojanos, at least not 99.99% of the time. Out of about 10 peps i've had none touched mojanos.
Raamiah
Well I checked out RedSea's website and the Aiptasia X claims to kill majano anemone too. I tried it out and it seemed to work but I'll keep a close eye out for them. They didn't "die" or shrink up quite like the aiptasia did but hopefully it solved the issue. I'll keep you guys updated if you want. I didn't want to boil the rock because it has some zoos on it and purple dimple shrooms. Hopefully I am done with that stuff and the aiptasia for a while. thanks for the advice guys!
CA2OR
Mojano....kill it NOW. I use kalk or aptasia control by blue sea or blue life
Raamiah
Well its been a few days and everything seems to be "normal". I still have a few aiptasia here and there. They blend in to the rocks a lot better than the majano's did. I am still going to keep a close eye out for both of those intruders and hope that I can keep them under control. I have also employed my wife as the spotter of aiptasia. She has better eyes than I do for seeing them. I still kill them but she can point out the ones that I missed.
