Question for the girls :D

All right so me and my gf have been together for 5 years and on 10/10/10 she turns 21.. finally lol. (I'm 22) So this being a big birthday number I was looking for some suggestions on a gift and where to take her. I'm thinking gift wise I have around $500 and for going out another $200.

So I guess my question is.. what do the girls like! :D

Also off subject is there any young people on this forum? So far everyone I've met is 40+ :D

Brazil grille is cool. My wife says jewlery always lasts and a girl will always love it. 10/10/10 is the 1st Susan Koman walk for the cure here in Oregon in Eugene. Not that its a fun 21, but would be something to come down and experience/participate in and she would always remember it. You could head up to Belknap for a hot springs stay, hit bend for some outlet shopping the next day and head back over Hood?

I'm not near 40 like most of these old timers...lol

Don't blow 200 on a dinner that is a waste. Buy tickets to a comedy show or something and grab dinner for around 40 to 60. If she likes jewelry go to tiffany and co and get a nice necklace bracelet for around 250. If you do the coast thing make sure you look up a restaurant called baked alaska in astoria. Not huge portions bbut it is the best food I've ever had. Maybe go to the astoria column.

Gifts are very personal, think about a time you saw her happy and smiling? What were you doing/talking about? If you go for jewlery think about the meaning it could send, how about watch with the date ingraved.

Don't do any thing that puts tons of presure too get way out of her comfort range, no black tie if shes a jean girl.

You could do a beach day and stop by the casino have dinner. No presure and she can drink, dance, gamble.. you know all the sfuff that she is now legal to do.

Daughter bar hoped all over town said if was good.

Son went to Vegas and said it was good.

Its all in the expectations.

Sorry I'm in the old group,

Beckie

Agree on gifts are very individual. Does she have a hobby? Personally I like gift certificates so I can pick out what I really want for me but wouldn't normally buy for myself. Although this year and last I have picked out CORALS for myself. (naughty) Comedy shows can be a ton of fun, that's a great idea. Sometime splurging on a nice dinner is great too. My husband and I went to Shenannigan's (SP?) one year for our anniversary. So wonderful! Expensive, yes, but we'll never forget it. We sat in the bar, no one else in there, watched the sun set on the river. Good luck, and have fun whatever you decide!

I'm no where near 40. I LISTEN to my wife throughout the year, and pick up on little things she mentions. Then make a list of the things she has mentioned and hide it in my phone. Then, come birthday time I use that list, and she thinks I'm amazingly sweet for remembering!

If your going for jewelery, check out The Gold Door on Hawthorne. One of my all time favorite jewelery shops in Portland.

Nonsense ... just don't spend $200 on the wrong dinner ... lol. I've never left Ringside feeling like I wasted money. Sometimes treating yourselves to something you wouldn't normally do makes the evening.

See if you can find some cheap airline tickets to go somewhere you both would enjoy for a few days. My wife loves a good jetset suprise trip and they can be had for about $500 including a night at a pretty nice place. Just depends on where you want to go. Maybe look into a night in a big city somewhere different or where neither of you have been. Try to make sure she has a couple of days off and make sure that she doesn't plan anything and then spring the tickets on her the night before her birthday or something. Take her on a fun excersion or dance classes or dinner or something way cool while you are there.

Just recently suprised my wife with tickets to Disneyland. Left at 3am on Saturday morning and got back late Sunday night. Did the whole trip for about $1000. Good times. Did a simialr trip to Europe to propose. The ladies love the suprise.
