Piero Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I sure would like more info on this setup behind the scenes, and how on earth does he reach the bottom every time he has to fiddle with something?! LINK Quote
Ronjunior Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Must be ownded by that same guy that saved the dolphin by removing plactic chunks out of its stomach with his bare hands! Could you imagine fishing out a damsel out of that thing, or one of those little orange guys he has in there, possibly a bunch of mollies. Quote
siskiou Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 The orange ones look like Anthias to me in some of the other pics on the website. Unfortunately there isn't much info there, just short descriptions. Quote
inkto Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 hard to find info on that one but there are a few details here: http://www.zeovit.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43&page=4 Quote
mister crabs Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Im guessing his algae scraper is on a broom handle....lol and im guessing hes certified in scuba Quote
Piero Posted January 7, 2007 Author Posted January 7, 2007 pretty impressive nonetheless for a tank that size. I'd consider anything beyond 30" deep barely managable. But the aquascaping looks good. Here's a link to the IDOL tanks thread this came from... LINK Quote
Holly Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Before we got our first tank (and I discovered how much work it was), I'd be all "OMG!! THAT's WONDERFUL!" but now all I can see when I look at that is "OMG! THAT'S WORK!" It's still gorgeous, but wow.. How does he get it clean? How does he find and remove dead fish before they skunk up the tank? How does he clean the bottom? What kinds of halides and actinics are powerful enough to pass through 70" of water without complete attenuation? By my calculations, he'd need bulbs of at least 800W. ..And the power bill?! (scary) Quote
Holly Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I'm sure you guys prob already know about David Saxby of London, but in case you don't... He has what's proported to be the world's largest privately-owned reef tank in his flat. 1500 US gallons (1500 US gallons=2000 UK gallons). (clap) I have a book on world's best reef tanks, and his is in there, so I have all the parameters and stats, if you want more detail... http://www.saltcorner.com/sections/photos/readerphotos/davidsaxby.htm Quote
mister crabs Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 thats a crazy beautiful tank but i dont want his maintenance or power costs....i'll stick to going to vegas and looking at the huge reef tanks at mandalay bay....hehehe or to the coast aquarium if i need a quicker fix of fishies Quote
Ronjunior Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Holly, you must not have seen this thread! His record won't last much longer if it is in fact one. http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1872&highlight=17%2C000 Quote
