Mandinga
Need help with two recent discoveries... acan, favia, or something else? and acan maxi, chalice, or scoly, or somethin else?
ReeFit
looks like a green chalice to me. i have one of those as well.
ReeFit
the bottom one looks like a chalice to me as well, not sure though
Mandinga
the top one can't be a chalice, but the bottom one may be... the skeleton on the bottom one doesn't look very chalice-esque, nor does it's ONE gigantic pink mouth.
ReeFit
The bottom one could be a scoly but it sure looks awfully deflated. mine don't look that bumpy. the top one looks exactly like mine and it was sold to me as a chalice from one of the LFS, but i have no way of confirming that it truly is a chalice. i know its definitely a slow grower. jgf86123
Could be acan echinata possibly on the top one, whatever it is, it's purty.
RLaForce
Is the top one messing with your zoas in the picture right next to them? If it's not I bet it's a favia. Other than that I couldn't tell you. The bottom one looks like an angry scoly to me.
Mandinga
the RPE's next to the first pic were only there for a moment...pictures take so much better when things are near the glass.
Mandinga
crazy....the LPS piece actually got stung by the Red People eaters! the little spot where they were touching died! WTH>? I didnt think Paly's packed a punch!?!
stylaster
First one i would guess some sort of Favia The second looks like a acan rotundoflora (how big is the polyp size? and how big is the piece overall?)
jgf86123
Dude, if that top one is a favia, I want it....
Mandinga
First one i would guess some sort of Favia The second looks like a acan rotundoflora (how big is the polyp size? and how big is the piece overall?) the second one is about 4" in diameter. What do you mean by polyp size? the center mouth is approx 3/4" wide. I think you may be onto the second one as being a acan rotundoflora...? Mandinga
i think the top one may be a baby's breath favia?
snowpunk
I have an acan that looks almost identical to the bottom one. Or it did until a while ago. I still have it but it got bleached a little. for sure an acan though...
Emerald525
Could be acan echinata possibly on the top one' date=' whatever it is, it's purty.[/quote'] I agree with Mick. It does not look like a chalice or favia to me. It looks more like an acan echinata
Lowman
The top one is definitely a favia. Not Baby's breath but similar. I had one from Rose City a couple years ago. I think I sold it to Chief, Jay, a while back. I agree with Roy also on the second one.
